Breeding Bird Atlas Program
Join the Breeding Bird Atlas Coordinator, Nicki Nagle, for an informative program about how you can help survey our breeding birds on May 17th, 2008 at 1:00 in the afternoon. The Breeding Bird Atlas invites all those who are interested in participating, from the beginner to the expert birder. This camp is focused on reptiles of the past and present, the history behind dinosaurs, hands on activities will help campers explore the topic in depth. Capture Dubuque Photo Contest
The 2008 'Capture Dubuque' Photo Contest will come to a close on Novemer 7th of 2008. The catagories for this years event include: wildlife, people in nature, and plants. Rules for the contest are printed below. Last years sponsors: TNT Jewelry and Art Gallery, Steve's Ace, Key West True Value, Tom Gavin Photographic Services, Theisen's, Walgreens, and Friends of the DCCB 2007 Adult Winners: 1st Place-Chris Valentine 2nd Place-Heidi Olson 3rd Place- Tara Grace 2007 Junior Winners: 1st Place- Shykela Nelson 2nd Place- Elle Gadient 3rd Place- Shykela Nelson Rules: 1. Photos must be taken in Dubuque County Areas. (Bankston Park, Fillmore, Finley's Landing, Graf Park, Heritage Trail, Heritage Pond, IPC Forest Preserve, Little Maqueketa River Mounds,Massey Marina, Mud Lake, New Wine Park, Pohlman Prairie, Ringneck Ridge, Swiss Valley, Whitewater Canyon) Write your name, phone, and location photo was taken on the back of the photo. 2. No more than 2 entries per category per person, postmarked by November 7th, 2008. 3. Photos must be 8X10, do not matte or mount photo. 4. Pictures will not be returned unless accompanied by self-addressed, stamped envelope. 5. Members and employees of DCCB, the judging team, and their immediate families will not be eligible for this contest. 6. Individuals whose main source of income is photography are not eligible for this contest. 7. The DCCB reserves the right to display photos in public areas, newsletters, or any other publications. 8. Each photo must be accompanied by a seperate, completed entry form, copies of the form are acceptable. 9. The DCCB reserves the right to make any and all decisions regarding interpretation of rules.
