BANKSTON PARK

The generous open spaces and natural beauty of this park make it a favorite of family picnickers and campers looking for a more rustic camping experience. Numerous scout groups and others favor this park for group camping. Handicapped access to the stream for trout fishing is also available. FILLMORE RECREATION AREA
Provides one of northeast Iowa's most challenging nine hole golf courses. The clubhouse offers the services of a professional golf pro, as well as food, drinks, and handicap accessible shower and restroom facilities. A putting green and practice area are located adjacent to the clubhouse. White Water Creek runs through the park and the shade trees along its banks shelter the finest picnic and camp sites in southwest Dubuque County. Picnic pavilions are available for rent. Accessible playground units and play fields are sure to attract children of all ages. Cross-country skiing on ungroomed trails is available during the winter months. FINLEY'S LANDING PARK
One of the most scenic Mississippi River Pool 11 access points in Dubuque County. This area is located approximately 15 miles north of Dubuque County Road C9Y-the Great River Road. A marina with slips for seasonal and daily rental is located in the park, and a boat ramp and daily vehicle and boat trailer parking is available. Picnic areas, rental picnic pavilion, electric and non-electric campsites, shower/restroom facilities attract visitors who enjoy spending time near the Mississippi. Scenic views of the river await those who follow the nature trails up the rugged bluffs. Year round park ranger is in residence at site. MASSEY MARINA PARK
Complete boating access to Mississippi River Pool No. 12, which is located five miles south of Dubuque off Highway 52 South and the Great River Road. The well-lighted marina offers seasonal and daily slip rentals, a marine fuel dock, as well as short-term courtesy docks. The concession building offers food and drinks as well as restroom/shower facilities, laundry, and bait. Picnic grounds and campsites include accessible playground units. A two lane boat ramp and daytime parking for vehicle and boat trailers is located at the North side of the park. In winter, this area is used as a river access point for ice fishing. MUD LAKE PARK
Located six miles north of Dubuque, this river access area offers excellent picnic and camping facilities with showers and restrooms. The boat ramp provides boater access to Mississippi River Pool No. 11. Marine fuel is available at the adjacent Arrowhead Marina. Picnic shelters are available for rental and for those who want to fish in the winter, this area provides access to the backwaters of the Mississippi for ice fishing. NEW WINE PARK
This scenic, wooded site on the North Fork Maquoketa River is located about 5 miles north of Dyersville off Highway 136. This recreational area includes modern picnic, playground and camping facilities with showers and restrooms. Softball fields and sand volleyball courts are located adjacent to the picnic areas. Picnic pavilions are available for rent. More than two miles of nature trail leads the hiker through the heavily forested portion of the park area, which is frequently used as a winter roosting site by Bald Eagles. A year round park attendant is in residence at this site. This park is closed for the winter season. Contact: 563-556-6745 or 563-921-3475.

Swiss Valley

SWISS VALLEY PARK
Offers 62 wooded acres along the meandering course of spring-fed Catfish Creek which is stocked with trout by the Iowa DNR each year. (Click here for the Northeast Iowa Trout Stream Stocking Report )
Located 4.5 miles southwest of Dubuque off Highway 20 west or Highway 151 south. This park was named for the original settlers of the area. The park contains shaded picnic areas along the rocky creek banks, offering cool relief from summer's heat. Complete picnic areas, a playground, and sports fields, in addition to modern camping sites with shower and restroom facilities makes Swiss Valley a truly family-oriented recreation area. Picnic pavilions are available to rent. Winter camping, ice fishing for trout, and cross-country skiing round out the year. A year round Park Ranger is in residence at this site. The Swiss Valley Nature Preserve and Center is located one mile from the park, offers additional trout fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, and a visitor center with interpretive displays.
